Hyundai Test Drive Campaign Ticket Winners

Hyundai Customers were encouraged to test drive any new Hyundai to stand the chance of winning a trip for themselves and a partner to Brazil for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Four winners were randomly selected and will have the opportunity to stay in a 5-star hotel in Manaus, experience the ‘meeting of the waters’, swim with pink dolphins, tour the Amazon and fish for piranhas. Best of all, they will get to attend a live soccer match with an African country, between Cameroon and Croatia, at the Arena da Amazonia stadium. Says Francois Marais, marketing manager at Hyundai Automotive South Africa: “At Hyundai we are always looking for ways to increase the customer experience with our brand and, with our ongoing FIFA World Cup sponsorship, we were again able to bring the ‘Gees’ to South African consumers, encouraging them to enter and be part of the action.

There was a lot of excitement at the winner's briefing as the lucky ones and their partners collected their tickets and hospitality packages shortly before heading off to Brazil. Two of the winners were interviewed and this is what they had to say.

''I have never won anything in my life or been overseas before, so you can just imagine, when I got the call from 5FM at 10am on a Saturday morning while at home – I just starting screaming, I was so excited, laughed Thembi Mavuso, a Johannesburg based events and public liaison officer for the Department of Transport. I then went to my mom and told her that we are going to Brazil (she is a big soccer lover) but she thought I was joking. Needless to say, the whole family knew about it very quickly and started calling me.

Two months ago I tested a Hyundai and landed up buying an i20 – which got me my entry into the competition. When Hyundai called me in the week before the announcement and told me to listen to 5FM on Saturday I was so excited. I was at a wine tasting and missed the call from Sureshnie, says Megan Schouten, an accountant from The Western Cape Southern Suburbs. I said to my boyfriend, oh my goodness I missed the call, and immediately called back. When I was told I had won the trip I was so shocked and excited I went crazy and started screaming, I mean I have never even been on an aeroplane

Every winner had something special in mind before travelling, something they were looking forward to, and it was really awesome to see such excitement, especially as we soon realised that  90% of our winners and partners had never been overseas before.'' says Marais.

I am looking forward to seeing whether the Brazilian woman can compare to us South Africans, to Brazilian hair for my weave and of course seeing Cameroon play Croatia; I'll definitely be rooting for Cameroon.

I am so looking forward to the whole trip but if I had to point something out, it would be the Piranha fishing in the Amazon and definitely, the game, says Schouten.

The trip is currently underway and will see the winners return on Saturday 21 June; with what I am sure will be an exhilarating story to tell and a memory that will last a lifetime, says Marais.
